Elizabeth Bich Lien Vo, Princess Asian-USA 2006, came back to her native province of Kien Giang on November 9 for a 2-day visit and donated thousands of dollars to charity work.

In Phu Quoc District, her birth-place, she gave $10,000 for 2 classrooms to be built and another $2,000 for the building of 4 houses for very poor people.

In Giong Rieng District, she offered VND40 million (around $2,487) for the construction of a concrete bridge and paid for 2 houses to be built for poor people.

Vo gave another $10,000 to support the restoration of the Temple of Hero Nguyen Trung Truc in Kien Giang’s Phu Quoc District and the renovation of Ba Chua Xu Temple in Chau Doc Town of An Giang Province.

Vietnam Airlines offers new route discounts

National flag carrier Vietnam Airlines will launch flights from HCM City to Can Tho City and Phu Quoc Island from March 28.

The new route will be serviced by five flights per week with 65-seat AT7 planes.

On the occasion of opening the new route, the airline is offering a discount from March 28 to May 30 (excluding the period from April 28 to May 5), with a one-way ticket from HCM City to Phu Quoc priced at 304,000 VND./.

US$ 356.8 million to build thermo-electric plant in Phu Quoc

The government has agreed to a thermo-electricity plant with an annual capacity 200 MW in the island district of Phu Quoc, according to the People’s Committee of the southern province of Kien Giang.

Phu Quoc attractive to investors despite insufficient infrastructure

Phu Quoc Island off mainland Kien Giang Province is becoming a hot destination for hospitality investment in spite of its poor infrastructure. 

Nearly 400 local and international enterprises are looking to invest in a range of projects on the island including hotels, resorts and tourism sites. Some investors have received approval for their projects, while others are still in the research and development phase.

Visiting Coi Nguon Phu Quoc Museum in Kien Giang

Coi Nguon Phu Quoc Museum in Phu Quoc Island will open on April 30 to mark the 34th anniversary of the Reunification Day of the country. 

This museum is the result of the profound passion for preservation of a young couple, Huynh Phuoc Hue and Nguyen Thi Phuong Dai. Nestled by a small hill on Tran Hung Dao Street, Dong Duong Toan Commune, Phu Quoc District in the Mekong Delta province of Kien Giang, five-storey Coi Nguon Phu Quoc Museum is an ideal destination for those who want to learn about the history of the island. The museum is surrounded by a green park with trees, kennels for Phu Quoc dogs, sea eagles and a souvenir shop.
